Bahrain

In the 11th Rwanda Tri Nations Cup 2025 match, Bahrain won by a convincing eight wickets against Malawi at the Rwanda Cricket Stadium. Malawi chose to bat first after winning the toss but did not manage to put up a good fight.

Malawi’s Innings

Their team struggled to find footing from the very beginning with wickets falling at predictable intervals. Sami Sohail was the only shining light for Malawi, hitting a consistent 37 off 33 balls. Aaftab Limdawala contributed with just 15 from 10 balls, also, the rest of the batting line-up could not offer any real support. Consequently, Malawi could only muster 113 runs in 20 overs at the cost of nine wickets.

Bahrain’s bowlers showed great control and variation throughout the match. Abdul Majid Malik was outstanding with 2 for 16 from his four overs, repeatedly troubling the batsmen. He was ably supported by Imran Khan, who took 2 for 22, and Ali Dawood, who picked up two wickets on 25 runs. The tight bowling effort meant that Malawi were never able to get into the flow they wanted to establish a competitive score.

Bahrain’s Innings

In reply, Bahrain’s batting order ran down the total with great effort. The chase was headed by Prashant Kurup with a calm and composed unbeaten 47 off 46 balls. He held the innings together nicely, putting together important partnerships. Asif Ali gave the start early with a swift 28 off 18 deliveries, and Sohail Ahmed was solid at the other end, going not out on 21 off 21 balls. Bahrain achieved the target in under 17 overs, reaching 114 for 2 with more than 20 balls remaining.

Malawi’s bowlers struggled to make an impact, with only Chisomo Tchale and Suhail Vayani managing to pick up a wicket each. Despite their efforts, the low total and Bahrain’s strong and confident batting made it a one sided affair. Prashant Kurup was rightly named Player of the Match for his match-winning innings. This win not only increased Bahrain’s strong position in the tournament’s final which is also between these both teams, but also revealed the areas Malawi must address, most notably in both batting and bowling strengths.
