Royal Tigers’ Innings
The Royal Tigers created a stunning show of power hitting and fierce bowling to thrash Windsor Lions CC by a humongous margin of 221 runs in their KT20 Canada 2025 league match. The Tigers, who batted first after winning the toss, set the platform on fire by scoring a phenomenal total of 315 for 5 in their 20 overs. From the very first over, Naeem Iqbal dominated the innings and unleashed a brutal attack on the bowlers of Windsor. He crushed 167 runs in only 55 balls, inclusive of 9 fours and a staggering 17 sixes, batting with power and unmatched aggression. His attack left the opposition at his mercy, as he smashed every bowler who entered the attack.
As Naeem stole the limelight, Unmukt Chand played the ideal supporting act with a decent 63 off 33 deliveries, hitting 10 fours and 2 sixes. Munir Ahmad then chipped in with late fireworks with a punishing 46 off just 18 balls, further piling up the pressure and runs on the Tigers’. The Tigers scored freely and kept a very high run rate throughout the innings. While there was a bit of resistance from Mukesh Jhally, who took three wickets, and Anirudh Gururajan’s couple of wickets, Windsor’s bowling side was found wanting under pressure. All their bowlers conceded runs at more than 10 per over, with Ravinder Singh and Mehta conceding 19 and 20 runs per over respectively.
Windsor Lions CC’s Innings
In response, Windsor Lions CC were never close to chasing the 316-run target. Their batting order was torn apart within no time, and the team was never back in the game. Sam Sabharwal was dismissed for a duck in the second over, and Amandeep Singh followed soon, run out by a direct hit by Kakar. Dhruv Mehta tried to stabilize the innings with 19 from 32 balls, but his slow scoring only put more pressure. Anirudh Gururajan provided support with 20 from 19, but none of the batters were able to establish a strong partnership or test the Royal Tigers’ disciplined bowling unit.
The Royal Tigers bowlers were keen and persistent throughout the innings. Irfan Sadaat bowled with great discipline, taking 2 wickets for only 22 runs in his four overs, while Ameer Hamza and Hubi Ali took two wickets each. Siddiqui and Umair contributed one wicket each. They kept bowling tightly and didn’t let Windsor settle. Lions were finding it difficult to cross even the 100 run mark and finished their innings at 94 for 9 from 20 overs.
With this victory, the Royal Tigers acquired two points and also gave the rest of the league teams a strong indication of their intentions. Naeem Iqbal deservedly received the Player of the Match award for his match winning knock, which single handedly destroyed the back of the opposition. The Royal Tigers’ effort was an effort of the entire team, with record breaking batting assisted by clinical bowling to produce one of the most crushing victories in KT20 Canada history.
