Cape Town, South Africa – Cricket South Africa’s anti-corruption unit has launched an official investigation into the Cape Town Club Cricket League, a newly established T10 tournament that took place between March and April 2024.
The tournament featured eight prominent club teams, including Bellville Cricket Club, Durbanville Cricket Club, Rondebosch Cricket Club, Victoria Cricket Club, Kraaifontein Cricket Club, Tygerberg Cricket Club, Milnerton Cricket Club, and Northerns Goodwood Cricket Club. After a competitive season, Durbanville Cricket Club secured the championship by defeating Bellville Cricket Club in the final.
The investigation was triggered after betting odds and markets for the tournament were discovered on various online betting platforms. Authorities are now examining whether any improper activities occurred that may have influenced the integrity of the competition.
This inquiry follows a similar probe into the Boland T10 tournament, which took place in September 2024 and also attracted betting-related scrutiny. Cricket South Africa remains committed to maintaining the sport’s integrity and ensuring that all competitions remain free from any undue external influence.
