Warsaw, July 11, 2025 – After a disappointing defeat to Iceland in their opening game, Lithuania roared back with an impressive all-round performance to register their first win of the EURO T20 CUP 2025, defeating Ukraine by 43 runs in a shortened game (16 overs).
Batting first after winning the toss, Lithuania made the most of ideal batting conditions as Harishkumar Parasuraman played a sensational innings, smashing an unbeaten 78 off just 41 balls. He found a solid partner in Affan Elahi Zaheer, who scored a composed 56 off 42 deliveries, setting up a dominant opening stand of 132 runs.
Late fireworks from Zahid Mushtaq (25* off 11) helped Lithuania post a daunting 175/2 in their 16 overs. Ukraine’s bowling unit struggled for control, conceding 14 extras and failing to contain the Lithuanian top order.
In response, Ukraine faltered under scoreboard pressure. Captain Hardeep Singh fell early, and although Abdul Vahab fought valiantly with an unbeaten 51 off 47 balls, the team fell well short, ending on 132/4 after 16 overs.
Lithuania’s bowling attack looked far more disciplined than in their previous outing. Skipper Renu led from the front with figures of 3-0-21-2, while Gopal Chitaure also chipped in with 2 for 20, helping restrict Ukraine effectively.
This win puts Lithuania on the board with one victory from two matches, keeping their campaign alive as they prepare for tougher challenges ahead. Ukraine, meanwhile, remain winless and will look to regroup ahead of their next clash.
