Moeen Ali, former England all-rounder, has reversed his retirement from county cricket and signed with Yorkshire for the 2026 Vitality Blast, with an option to stay for 2027. Moeen, 38, played his last Vitality Blast for Warwickshire, and many thought he was done with county cricket, but instead, he’s back to play T20 and help Yorkshire challenge for their first Blast trophy.

Yorkshire has never won the Vitality Blast in over 20 years. They reached Finals Day three times but never lifted the trophy. Moeen brings huge experience to the team. Yorkshire’s cricket manager, Gavin Hamilton, called him a “world-class all-rounder” who can help both on and off the field. Moeen has already won two World Cups with England and led Worcestershire to a Blast title in 2018.

Moeen said he wanted a new challenge and loves the atmosphere at Headingley. He’s excited to play in front of Yorkshire fans and help younger players improve. This move also reunites him with Adil Rashid, Yorkshire’s leg-spinner and England teammate. The pair are expected to bring energy and experience to the team.

Moeen has also praised Yorkshire for the steps they have taken to fight racism in cricket. He hopes his return will inspire and guide younger players and help the team build a strong future. With Moeen back, Yorkshire becomes a stronger contender in the 2026 Vitality Blast. His experience and leadership could be key in finally winning the trophy. One thing is clear: next year’s Blast just got a lot more exciting!
