The New Orleans Pelicans have fired Executive Vice President David Griffin after a disappointing six-year run. During his time in charge, the team won only 209 games and lost 263. They made the playoffs just once and earned only two wins there.
This season, the Pelicans finished with a poor 21-61 record, one of the worst in the league. The front office decided it was time for a fresh start.
Griffin joined the Pelicans in 2019 with high hopes. He previously built a championship team in Cleveland around LeBron James. Many fans expected him to do something similar in New Orleans, especially with young star Zion Williamson on the roster. However, the team never reached its potential.
Now, the Pelicans are looking at Joe Dumars as a possible replacement. Dumars is best known for building the Detroit Pistons team that won the NBA title in 2004. His experience and past success make him a strong candidate for the job.
The Pelicans hope this leadership change will turn the team around and help them finally become a playoff contender.
