Cricket Quebec Federation (QCF) is under scrutiny after a controversial decision at its most recent Annual General Meeting (AGM), where several members were banned from participating in QCF activities for five years. The decision has sparked outrage among some players and observers, who view the move as a violation of democratic principles and a suppression of dissent within the organization.

The members affected by the ban, who had raised concerns about QCF’s governance and management of the organization, were excluded from the AGM proceedings. One of the members Mudasser Akber Ahmed, who was banned along with two others, expressed their dissatisfaction with the decision, stating that the meeting represented a failure of fair governance. They specifically pointed to the denial of their right to be heard, citing the fundamental legal principle of Audi Alteram Partem, which ensures that all parties have the right to a fair hearing before decisions are made.

According to reports, the banned members were not allowed to attend the AGM and were instead met with security guards stationed at the entrance. This action raised questions about the transparency of the event, as other individuals who were not on the official list were reportedly allowed entry. Critics argue that the AGM was conducted in a manner that favored a select group, preventing open dialogue and constructive criticism.

The three members had previously spoken out about issues concerning the grounds used by Cricket Quebec last summer, which they claimed affected players across the province. Instead of addressing these concerns, critics argue that the QCF leadership chose to silence those raising the issues rather than providing solutions or engaging in meaningful discussions.

This event has drawn attention to broader concerns about the governance and management practices within Cricket Quebec and cricket in Canada, as a whole. Those opposed to the decision argue that the future of cricket in Quebec could be jeopardized if such decisions are allowed to stand without scrutiny. Transparency, fairness, and accountability are seen as essential components of any sporting organization, and many believe that the handling of the AGM raises questions about the integrity of the organization’s leadership.

Team TS Flick reached out to Cricket Quebec Federation (QCF) with a series of questions seeking clarification on the controversial AGM and the recent bans. However, despite repeated efforts, the organization has yet to respond, leaving many concerned about the lack of transparency. The silence from QCF has only fueled further criticism of their governance practices.
